About us
Botanica Early Learning Centre is a boutique childcare centre, located in Highton, Victoria, that offers a unique early learning and funded Kindergarten experience for children aged between 3 months to school age.
Our programs have been developed to understand the balance between education and play. We are largely influenced by STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) learning and our resources have been carefully selected to enhance the growth and development of your child, and tostimulate their creativity and exploration.
We utilise the Early Years Learning Framework to ensure that children are prepared cognitively, socially and emotionally for primary school.
Our Centre
Our architecturally designed Centre has been built with consideration of children’s physical, social, cognitive and emotional development as we believe that a free flowing, fun learning environment is ideally suited to your child’s growth and wellbeing.
Our facility is equipped with specialised educational materials and large interactive internal and external spaces designed to engage children’s interest, as well as develop their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
Our Philosophy
At Botanica Early Learning Centre, we embrace a child-led, play-based approach, where each child’s interests and voice are at the heart of our program. We believe in nurturing a supportive and engaging environment that encourages holistic development, promotes social-emotional growth, and values strong family partnerships. Our approach focuses on building meaningful relationships, fostering a sense of belonging, and celebrating the unique strengths of each child.
We view every child as a whole person, considering not only their cognitive development but also their social, emotional, and physical well-being. We aim to create a positive and enriching learning environment through a hands-on, role-modelling approach, recognizing that children learn best through exploration, play, and interactions with educators, peers, and their surroundings. This approach empowers children to take ownership of their learning, building confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
By offering choices, responsibilities, and opportunities, we support each child’s unique learning journey. We recognize and honour each child’s individuality, ensuring our program reflects and includes their strengths, cultural backgrounds, and family input. We believe that embedding family values and cultural diversity within our curriculum is essential in fostering a community where every child and family feels respected and valued.
Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that parents and educators are partners in guiding children’s learning and behaviour. This collaborative partnership involves open communication, shared goals, and thoughtful reflection to provide children with a well-rounded, supportive experience. At Botanica, we aim to inspire curiosity, encourage discovery, and build a strong foundation for each child’s future, all while creating a space where every child can flourish as a confident, capable, and joyful learner.
Our Educators
Our Educators are trained in our program and are selected based on their love of teaching children and their fit into our culture and our team.
Nutrition
We believe good nutrition is essential to the health and wellbeing of each child. This will help each child be active participants in their growth and development and the promotion of healthy food choices. Our in-house kitchen provides a nutritionally balanced menu prepared on our premises each day.
We offer a seasonal, four-week rotating menu that includes a variety of multicultural foods. Children at Botanica are provided with breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late fruit snack.
Healthy, Fresh & Local
Our fresh fruit and produce is sourced from local suppliers, as well as from our own fruit trees and veggie patches.
We have a weekly Centre gardener who determines the schedule of our vegetable planting.

All meals follow a menu supported by Nutrition Australia and are prepared fresh on the premises by an experienced cook.
The food prepared and provided to the children comply with Food Standards Australia, the Building Code of Australia and the Food Act 1984 (as a class 1 Commercial kitchen).
To make sure increase the nutritional benefits in our meals, we reduce the amount of white carbohydrates and sugar given to the children. We use a lot of brown rice, wholemeal flour, as well as vegetable-based ingredients as a preference.
During various cultural celebrations children have opportunities to help cook special meals for the day.
